Most people use the Internet properly but some people use it in a way that is wrong.
   

Here are some ways that some people mis-use the Internet

• stealing money
     
• bullying people
     
• sending upsetting pictures or messages.

This doesn't mean that the Internet is not safe to use. Keeping safe is easy if you follow the rules below.

1. Never give out your address, phone number or email address
     
2. Never send a photo of yourself
     
3. Never meet up with anyone you chat to on the web
     
4. Never reply to rude or cruel messages – they are not worth your time 
     
5. Never write anything that could upset other people 
     
6. If you think that a stranger knows your e-mail address then it is a good idea to change to a new one
     
7. Tell someone that you trust if you are worried about something on the Internet.
