A lot of jobs will require you to apply in writing or you might need to write ‘on spec’ to a firm asking for work; you need to get this right. Either way, you should send a letter with your CV or the company application form.
Here is an example of a well laid out letter.

Tab through the fields and enter your own details.
Print the letter (and a copy for your file).
Close the file – save to your computer if you want.
Don’t forget to sign it above your printed name.
